Alejandro Mosso – mosso004 [mosso]

Alejandro Mosso.

Notre dada.

Alejandro Mosso – mosso004
Label: Mosso
Score: 9/10

This is incredible.  Why don’t more people make music like this?  In short, it’s got the persistent groove of the dance floor, but the creativity of a classical composer.  And is it House, is it Techno, or is it neither?  Hard to say.  It has a nice tribal element to it which you could legitimately expect from a man from Argentina, but that’s pretty much the only remotely predictable part.

At times the instruments are wonky, at times they are sweet and melodic, but the broad philosophy is a slightly twisted one.  Think Kassem Mosse and Stefan Goldmann but even better – there isn’t the industrial coldness that goes with the surreal Techno those guys come out with, but there is the same eccentric vibe.  And it just keeps building, by God does it keep building.  Both tracks are complete and utter value for money – apart from the intro and outro, no 8 bars are ever the same, it’s constantly evolving which is quite something for 5 minutes of electronic music.

Alejandro Mosso, I salute you.

mosso004 is coming out in March!!!

mosso004 A+B

Artist: Alejandro Mosso
Title: mosso004
Cat: mosso004
Label: mosso
Format: 12” & Digital
Release: March 2013

Staying true to its intent, Alejandro Mosso presents a fourth and brand new outing on his own imprint, further extending the invitation to share his most private space.

As per custom, the titles present on mosso004 both simultaneously develop the different, yet ever so complimentary, aspects of Alejandro’s production. On one hand, his signature rhythmics make for some all-important body fodder, while his honed synth-programation gives way to the most reflective moments – some traits that are always recognizable in his live performance as well.

The stabs that slowly progress through ‘Yguasu’ – the A-side, are nothing else than synaptic signals triggering instant physical reactions, while a brooding line remains underlayered across the title, rooting the listener in cogitation.

‘Tupungato’ was created in a place suspended above the earth and just under the closest stars – at an altitude of exactly 6,570 m. Named after one of the highest mountain in the Americas, a volcano erected between Chile and Alejandro’s native city of Mendoza in Argentina, this B-side touches to pure ethereality, the soundtrack to an overnight on the highest dew.

A. Yguasu
